19th June 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
Sports day - Thursday 2nd July
Year 1 -6 will take part in their sports day at the Mountbatten Centre, leaving school at 9am and returning by 1pm at the very latest. We will aim to have a picnic lunch at the Mountbatten Centre but this will be weather dependent. Parents who have attended the sports day and picnic will be able to take their children home after this event. Teachers will need to register their classes before children leave and children will ONLY be able to leave if their parent is present including Years 5 and 6 home walkers.
Children whose parents are unable to take them home will come back to school and take part in a range of activities during the afternoon.
All children must come dressed in their PE kits on the day, bringing their water bottle and a hat.
If any parent can walk to the Mountbatten Centre with us please let your child's class teacher know. On Sports Day, siblings are put in the same team so parents can follow them around and support them. We do ask that parents do not take their child to the toilet - there will be staff members who can do this and do not constantly give children something to eat during the activities.
Early Years' sports day will be in the school from 1.45pm to 3pm.
Thank a Teacher day - thank you to all the parents and children who shared messages with staff - they were very much appreciated.
This week, our Year 6 children attended The Life of Christ experience at Wintershall - we were blessed with beautiful weather and the retelling of the life of Christ was awe-inspiring. To see the Gospel come to life in a beautiful setting was truly a gift from God.
Class Photos – Tuesday - A reminder that class photographs will take place next Tuesday. Please ensure your child comes to school in full school uniform. Children may remove their ties before and after their photographs if they wish. Please note: Children should not come to school in PE kit on this day.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes
Miss Clark
Head teacher
We have received notice that from tonight until the middle of next week, the temperature is likely to be very hot!
To support your child/ren during this heat wave, please
In school, we will aim to reduce long periods of time outdoors and ask children to sit in the shade during lunchtime. We will also change some PE lessons so that children are not running around too much in the heat of the day.
Pupil Premium Grant - Have you checked recently whether your child/ren are entitled to the Pupil Premium Grant? From September there will be two types of grants. One for families on low income whose children will be able to access a free meal every day in school and have priority access to holiday activities and one for families who are in receipt of universal credit, are on an overseas work or student visa or have no recourse for public funding - these children will be able to receive a free meal during the school day. We are encouraging all families to apply by 30th June and for those who do will be entered into a draw with the chance to win a £50 shopping voucher. Please use this link Free school meals - Portsmouth City Council or pop into the office with your NI number.
Preloved School Uniforms: We have summer uniform available - if anyone needs any summer uniform please contact the office.
SMART Devices - I am writing to remind you that for the safeguarding of all members of our school community, children are not permitted to wear smart technology devices into school. This includes items such as smart watches. Children are permitted to wear a basic digital or analogue watch, but this must not have any photographic or communicative functions and should not be valuable. If you are not sure whether a watch is suitable for school, please speak to the class teacher.
Benefitted Related Free School Meals - As you may be aware, families on certain benefits may be entitled to what is known as the Pupil Premium Grant - this is an amount of money, about £1300, that the school receives to support children in school. Where a family is entitled to the pupil premium grant, we offer subsidies for trips and some activities. However, families are also entitled to free holiday activities and a supermarket voucher during some holidays. If you have not checked whether you are entitled please do so before the end of September by clicking on this link Synergy - Enquiry Please do speak to Mrs Penney in the office if you need any help.

PE Days - Children should come dressed in their PE kits - green t-shirt and black shorts or black or green track suit and trainers. Track suits must be plain with no logos.

If children are taking part in any after school sports clubs on days that aren't their PE days they should bring trainers with them to school and change at the end of the day.
